Gentamax 100 Injection

Gentamicin Injection
Aminoglycoside Antibiotic for Veterinary Use
Composition:
Gentamicin – Potent bactericidal agent.
Key Benefits:
Rapid bactericidal action.
Effective against gram-negative bacteria.
Low protein binding in animals.
High concentration in target fluids.
Fast absorption after injection.
Pharmacological Action:
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It demonstrates rapid bactericidal activity against susceptible organisms, particularly gram-negative bacteria. Due to minimal protein binding, it achieves effective levels in peritoneal and pleural fluids.
Note: Renal impairment may alter clearance and increase risk of nephrotoxicity.
Bacterial Spectrum:
Gentamicin is effective against:
-
Actinobacillus spp.
-
Klebsiella spp.
-
Bordetella bronchiseptica
-
Enterobacter spp.
-
Pseudomonas spp.
-
Escherichia coli
Use only against confirmed susceptible strains.
Indications:
For the treatment of infections in horses, dogs, and cats caused by susceptible organisms. Indicated for:
-
Respiratory tract infections
-
Urinary tract infections
-
Reproductive tract infections
Low penetration in cerebrospinal fluid and ocular tissues.
Pharmacokinetics:
-
Rapid absorption after injection
-
Peak plasma levels in 30–60 minutes
-
Maintains therapeutic levels up to 6 hours in horses
-
Crosses placenta
-
Primarily eliminated by renal filtration
