Pharmacological Action
Detomidine acts on alpha-2 adrenoceptors in the central nervous system, reducing norepinephrine release and inducing sedation, analgesia, and muscle relaxation.
It provides a calm but responsive state, facilitating safe handling and minor surgical interventions.
Indications
✅ Sedation and analgesia in horses during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
