Parvon Injection Overview

Composition:

• Each ml contains Buparvaquone (M.S.) 50mg

Indications:

• Prophylaxis and treatment of theileriosis (east coast fever) in cattle, sheep, horses, camels, and dogs.
• Effective against both schizont and piroplasm stages of theileria species.

Pharmacokinetics:

• Peak plasma concentration in cattle achieved in 3-4 hours.
• Terminal half-life recorded about 25-27 hours.

Pharmacodynamics:

• Buparvaquone interferes with energy generation and causes vacuolization of cytoplasm in protozoa.

Dosage and Administration:

• Administer 1ml per 20kg body weight (2.5mg buparvaquone per kg body weight) by deep intramuscular injection only.
• Further treatment may be necessary after 48-72 hours.

Precautions:

• Do not administer intravenously or subcutaneously.
• Avoid injection into wet areas of skin.
• Delay immunization of animals after treatment.

Withdrawal Time:

• Milk: 48 hours
• Meat: 42 days
